Our first Tesco Business Service has been established in 2004 in Bengaloru, India. The next step now to set up a brand new Tesco Business Services team for Central Europe. The team will be based in a new business services center in our existing Vaci út office in Budapest and will create hundreds of new specialist roles. The new team will provide dedicated support for colleagues and customers in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.

Roles and responsibilities:

Accountabilities in the role

  • Booking incoming (Accounts Payable) invoices and other internal documents in line with the accounting policies, rules and laws (especially tax laws)
  • Issuing and booking outgoing (Accounts Receivable) invoices
  • Resolving queries on time
  • Balance sheet and tax account statement reconciliation (explanation of movements, issues etc.)
  • Period closure activities
  • Checking the accuracy and timeliness of the relevant documents (e.g. invoices)
  • New processes set up (in cooperation with other teams within Finance)
  • Participating in audits (internal and external)
  • Calculating tax liabilities (also collecting the relevant data to that) and preparing tax returns and other tax reporting
  • Providing data for the tax related bank transfers
  • Providing monthly and ad-hoc tax related booking instructions to the accounting colleagues
  • Participating in tax authority audits
  • Supporting the leaders of the tax team and the stakeholders in tax related projects, questions, business initiatives, ruling requests
  • Monitoring the legislative changes in the area of taxes and taking action to prepare the business for these changes
  • Statistical reporting
  • Accurate archiving
  • Performing ad-hoc tasks in this professional area based on the instructions of the line managers


Location is flexible, could be either Budaörs Head Office or Váci út Office as well.

You will be great in this role if you have:


  • At least 3 years experiance in accounting and/or tax area
  • Good Accounting knowledge and basic knowledge of tax law
  • Ability to work individually
  • English language knowledge – ability to communicate
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (excel, word)
  • Oracle knowledge is an advantage
